The Hong Kong, China Delegation will depart for Mersin, Türkiye on 14 June to compete in the 2026 World Abilitysport Youth Games. A total of 15 athletes from Hong Kong, China will take part in three sports: Para badminton, Para fencing and Para dance sport.

 

In Para badminton, two athletes will represent Hong Kong, China. LAW Ka Fung, who competed at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games and the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, will contest the U21 Men’s Singles SU5. WAI IAN, who will be making his international debut, will compete in the U21 Men’s Singles SH6. Both athletes will face young Para badminton athletes from around the world in their respective sport classes.

 

Three athletes will compete in Para fencing. Young athlete LEE Sheung Ho, who has represented Hong Kong, China in international competitions on multiple occasions, will take part in the Men’s foil individual category A, Men’s épée individual category A and Men’s sabre individual category A in the under 23 category. The Para fencing under-23 events at the 2026 World Abilitysport Youth Games will also serve as the 2026 U23 Para Fencing World Championships. After completing the under-23 events, LEE Sheung Ho will join LAI Chi Hang and TANG Ching Ching to compete in the Para fencing Satellite Tournament that follows.

 

Para dance sport will feature a strong line-up of 10 athletes. Among them are the pair YU Chun Yin Matthew and CHOI Tsz Yan, who won three gold medals at last year’s 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities. They will compete in Combi Latin Class 2 and Combi Freestyle Class 2, while YU Chun Yin Matthew will also take part in Men’s Single Class 2. Another pair, SO Tsz Yan and LEE Pui Yin, who won one gold and three silver medals at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, will compete in Combi Standard Class 2. Medal-winning pair WONG Wo Chau and LUI Yee Ting from the Hong Kong 2025 Para Dance Sport International Competition will compete in Combi Latin Class 1 and Combi Freestyle Class 1, with WONG Wo Chau also entering Men’s Single Class 1. Another medal-winning pair, WONG Kin Hung and LEE Ka Yun, will appear in Combi Freestyle Class 2. FUNG Shui Chun and TSE Chun Yin will compete in Combi Latin Class 2.
